Through years of working in coffee in Peru, we spent time in the central valley where most of the country's quinoa is grown. Unfortunately we witnessed countless instances of food fraud centered around organic practices. We also saw a supply chain dominated by the processors in the capital who have the access to capital and markets.
After deciding that we would engage in the quinoa supply chain in Peru, we did what we always do... spend more time there and get to know who the relevant companies/individuals were. We aligned with those that share our values and developed relationships to work hand in hand.
Unfortunately we have experience working in industries where others rely on shortcuts. When we face this, we realize that we need to operate independently of the "usual players". That is why we built a team in Peru and have our own export company, Mayorga Peru SAC.
In addition to our constant presence in the quinoa fields, we work with our producers to ensure that our quinoa is verified to be free of chemicals. None of our quinoa leaves the original facility in the field before we get independent lab reports from multiple samples that were taken from bags. Only then do we move the quinoa to our partner facility for final processing and packaging for export.
The end result is this bag of Organic certified, Non-GMO verified, Kosher certified, Gluten-free, quinoa. Mayorga always ensures that the products we cultivate with our producers and sell to our customers are of the highest quality possible.
