Supporting the Next Generation in Hondurasβ Coffee Communities
At Mayorga, weβre committed to sourcing exceptional coffee from some of Latin Americaβs most renowned coffee-growing regions, and we understand that our responsibility extends to supporting the strength and resilience of the communities behind it.
That commitment is at the heart of our partnership withΒ Fabretto Childrenβs Foundation and the work we support in CopΓ‘n, Honduras, where young people in coffee-growing communities are gaining greater access to education and practical training. Their latest report gives us a look at the progress being made and the opportunities this work is helping create for the next generation. Read the Report here

Expanding Access to Education in Rural Communities
Education can open new possibilities for young people, but access to secondary school remains limited in many rural communities. Through the Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial (SAT), Fabretto and its local partner, AsociaciΓ³n BAYAN, are helping bring secondary education closer to students where they live.
In Yaunera, a community near the Capucas Coffee Cooperative, 30 young people now have access to 10th and 11th grades for the first time, allowing them to continue their education without leaving their community to do so.
To strengthen that access for the long term, 20 tutors and technical staff in CopΓ‘n have also received training on the SAT curriculum and textbooks, with ongoing school visits providing continued support as the program moves forward.
Building Practical Skills for the FutureΒ
Education also means giving young people skills they can put to work in their own communities. As part of the project, 48 young people received technical training in land surveying and digital farm georeferencing, building practical knowledge connected to the agricultural communities around them.
The level of interest from younger generations is especially encouraging. At two workshops hosted by Capucas Coffee Cooperative, participants had average ages of 22 and 14, while participants in a workshop with Flor del Campo Cooperative had an average age of 17. Representatives from both cooperatives, which Mayorga works with in the region, also took part in the training.

That knowledge is also being shared beyond the initial participants. Twenty-four local leaders were prepared to train others in land surveying and digital farm georeferencing, creating a way for these skills to reach more people and continue building local knowledge within coffee-growing communities.
By engaging young people early and preparing local leaders to carry that knowledge forward, the program is helping develop practical skills that can continue serving these communities into the future.

Stronger Communities Support the Future of Coffee
Coffee is deeply connected to the communities where itβs grown, which is why investing in their future matters to us. Supporting access to education and locally relevant skills helps create more opportunities for the people who live in coffee-growing regions, while strengthening the communities our industry depends on.
For Mayorga, this is what long-term partnership is about. Our relationships in coffee-growing regions arenβt limited to sourcing coffee; theyβre built on a commitment to the people behind it and to supporting work that responds to the needs of their communities.
The progress Fabretto is seeing in CopΓ‘n shows what that commitment can look like in practice, with young people gaining opportunities to learn and build skills they can carry forward.

Our Work With Fabretto Continues
These results represent progress made from March through August 2026, and the work is still moving forward. As Fabretto continues its efforts in CopΓ‘n, weβll continue following the impact of this partnership and sharing the progress happening within these communities.
Partnerships like this are possible because of the community that continues to support Mayorga and believes in the work behind the coffee. Every time you choose Mayorga, you help us continue investing in long-term relationships with the people and communities at the heart of coffee, including partnerships like the one weβve built with Fabretto.
Weβre proud of the progress so far, and we look forward to sharing what comes next.
